Aussie Florals

These designs were created in 2020, when I bought my first iPad. I’ve always had a fascination with Australian plants and textures, and the many weird and wonderful shapes of our flowers.

Feeling I needed a project, as the long days of lock down drew me into a dead zone of inactivity and lack of inspiration, I decided to to try entering my work into a completion for a fashion collaboration with a a prominent Australian brand. I didn’t win, I never even got as far as entering anything, as I never finished in time! But the process pushed me to start creating again, and the project grew into this beautiful collection of Aussie florals, with these 3 designs as the main statement peices.

I then began researching a printing agency, that matched my values, for sustainable design, and ethical work practices. This took a long time, with a lot of test prints, fabric swatches and many many emails. Finally I had my fabric printed and delivered. The short video below shows my process of turning them into scarves.
